Flipping their lid

In 2021 one of the frustrations for SGA Technologies was the problem that the lids of the expensive vats containing chemicals were no longer being manufactured.  The lids of the vats needed to be adjustable to all angles – not just open or shut.  However, the adjustablility of the knobs on the vats were gradually breaking one by one and the exasperated company were having to find inventive ways of addressing the problem, including using sticks and paper clips.

Eventually the company were facing the prospect of having to replace all of their vats  just because they could no longer buy replacement lids.

Called in to help, Mark pinpointed the problem as the knob design, not the lids and not the vats.  He could have just reproduced the design of the knob in his workshop but instead came up with an innovative solution and a radical new design.
